Hair Accessories

During Marie’s era, women (and men alike) wore their hair in some of the most elaborate coifs that have ever been imaged. So intricate were the designs that many had wigs made to match outfits and sometimes even just a theme for a single party. While today we don’t have the time, money, or the inclination to make such a fuss over our hair, we can dress it up daily by adding hassle-free accessories that will complete any outfit at any budget.

Some of my favorites I have bought at the 99¢ Store, but you can come across great finds at Wal-Mart and Target, you just have to look near the jewelry sections not the hair care.

Here are some top picks that I found at Forever 21 and Claire's:

Florals

Marie loved anything that was different, anything that made her stand out in the crowd of over dressed, over coiffed courtiers. That was one reason she began to dress in the more simplistic and pastoral styles of the country. She was inspired by the very wildflowers that grew in the fields outside of Versailles and by the beautifully arranged gardens within. She turned to floral patterns to make a statement and so can you.

This fall be inspired by the runway styling’s of Oscar de la Renta and Nanette Lepore and for those of us who can’t afford the real thing Forever 21 and Urban Outfitters have some wonderful pieces that you can accessorize with:
